Chase is the only human who works in Hell’s Gate, the one hospital in Boston where demons can go when they need help. It doesn’t make for an easy or restful life, but Chase loves what he does, even though none of the humans he knows understand it.
Thailor is a League demon—they’re the bogeymen of demons, working in the shadows to keep the city and its inhabitants safe. Sometimes he wonders why he even bothers helping humans when they couldn’t care less about demons, but it’s what he’s paid to do, and he’s good at it.
When Chase stumbles on a demon killing another demon, he knows he’ll be the only one to care. He tries to intervene, but he’s too late, and no matter what he thinks of Thailor, they seem to gravitate toward each other.
When Thailor is there for Chase when he’s assaulted, Chase finally gives in. They’re fighting against time to save the city’s demons from someone who’s kidnapping them and harvesting their organs, and as the body count rises, so does the danger for Chase. Thailor promises himself he’ll keep Chase safe, but will he be able to?

Great premise, mostly clunky execution. No chemistry between the MCs, one who has a martyr complex working at a hospital he doesn't like, with wards against demon on human violence which don't work terribly well. Another MC who is nothing more than immature. Very little felt cohesive and I found myself labouring to finish. I liked the brother who owned the bar, that's about it. Should have been a good book but wasn't.Product details

A Demon Heart Demons Hearts Book 1 edition by Catherine Lievens Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I loved this book. I appreciate how the author handled some pretty gruesome events without making it seem like gratuitous gore. If they had been otherwise, i wouldn't have been able to read the book due to the events. I also enjoyed the humor used to lighten the tone as needed. Would love a bit more world building in terms of the demons and their place in society and why it is how it is...but it felt right for the book.
Great read... though a bit hard to wrap your mind around sometimes... The characters are great and keeps me wanting to read... I just wish book 2 was available. I'm glad there was not too much detailed explicit sex scenes that most gay authors seem to think have to be essential every few pages... I mean... do these people really think gay romance is so much about sex? Love is about the heart... not about your...
Good book. I will be keeping an eye out for more titles. The reason I'm giving it a 4 star is only because of the errors in the book. I'm not sure who did the proof reading but it needed to be done a little better. As a proof reader myself some of the mistakes were really easy to see, double wording, sentences that were not finished, words that were not in the correct content, but all that said a great book. I will be looking for book 2.
There were a few coincidences in this book that didn't quite gel for me, but overall a well-written story. Good dialogue, plotline, and characterisations. I only noticed a few editorial mistakes. Thailor and Chance (doctor and demon) lacked a little warmth in their relationship, the side characters were most interesting.
The writing was decent, but the plot and characters didn’t grab me. The characters weren’t that original and I felt I needed more background to understand them. The idea of the plot wasn’t bad but I didn’t feel there were appropriate clues to the mystery. Despite that, I guessed the antagonists anyway. Also, I wish the author would have done some line breaks or something when switching scenes. It was confusing.
I can’t recommend it enthusiastically, but I wouldn’t say I was disappointed, just not impressed.
A very well written m/m paranormal romance novel. It had just the right balance of romance, the paranormal (move over vamps and werewolves it's time for the demons to have some fun) and intrigue/danger/mystery with of course a happy ending for the two MC's. This is a new author to me. Glad I took a chance and downloaded it. Can't wait for the next in the series. When I read "het" romance I always preferred paranormal ones. Have not had as much luck finding the same quality (i.e., what I believe is called "world building" in the literary world) in the m/m romance genre so delighted and quite satisfied to stumble across this gem. I also saw the 5 star ratings by previous readers and knew it was worth at least reading the description at a minimum as it is very unusual for paranormal romance to get 5 stars consistently upon release. Just finished reading it and as you can see I am giving it my own rating of 5 stars as it is well deserved. If like this genre as much as I do check this book out you won't be disappointed.
Rating 3 stars
I thought the story itself was pretty good. I think what ultimately let down the book for me was the chemistry between the MCs. I didn’t buy their relationship for one minute. I found Chase to be a bit irritating and I don’t think that the healer in him would ever get over the fact that Thailor kills demons for a living. Frankly I thought he had better chemistry with Jordan the cop than Thailor.
Also, I felt we could have used a bit more world building. Apparently, demons and humans live together in this world but how that came about is never discussed. Also, there was no mention of other paranormals, so are we to assume they don’t exist in this world?
Overall, I did like the story enough to probably visit the other books in the series at some point. This particular book in the series however was a bit of a let down.
